There's one major problem talked about with the iphone, keep in mind I don't own a iphone, but from what being said, one major problem, and the biggest miss that Apple made, was a strong battery for the iphone.
Apple computer introduce mobileMe update, 3G iphone, and AT&T service, which was like a bum rush on the Apple system. The Apple website was down days, and numerous nightmares roared across talked forums throughout the Internet. Now I can't argue with Apple too much considering the success of the company but I think they had too much going on to fast, why Apple didn't introduce mobileMe first, and then the iphone a week later or so I dont know, maybe the hoopla.
I think a lot of people out there got frustrate, I know I did trying update MobileMe, but all is well now but the iphone curmudgeons continue to complain. I know what so many phones sold theres bound to be problems, but it seems like to much was installed into the iphone for the sake of cool instead of needed features, and topple that by features left out of the phone. When I purchase The DARE I charge the battery, turned it on, and never looked back. People who had problems with the DARE were probably a defective phone, not system, apps, or features for the most part.

10 things Apple did right in the iPhone
The display, the display, the display. Everything looks good on it.
The menu design: Its simple and clean, and the home screen icons look like so much eye candy.
Fingertip navigation, zooming and scrolling that's intuitive, effective and fast.
Video playback thats so good you can tell when youve done a sub-par job of ripping your movies.
Visual voicemail lets you get to the calls you care about faster.
Great integrated applications, including Google Maps, YouTube, and a world clock that packs a timer, stopwatch and multiple alarms.
Cover Flow. Its incredibly fun to choose your music by visually flipping through album art.
Its tough: Our initial stress tests suggest that the iPhone is more durable than you might expect for such a sleek handset.
The first Apple music player with a built-in speakerand its not half bad for a phone.
No disconcerting do not disconnect messages when syncing with a PC.
10 things they did wrong
We want our AOL Instant Messagingand Yahoo and MSN IM clients, too. What about MMS support for sending picture mail?
No voice recordingand more importantly, no voice dialing support. How are you supposed to use an iPhone with a hands-free car kit?
Its the most locked-down phone weve ever seen. Not only can you not swap out the AT&T SIM card for one from another network, you cant even swap it out for another AT&T SIM card.
AT&T is building out its mobile broadband network, but iPhone users are stuck with older EDGE technologyor battery-consuming Wi-Fi.
You know those great headphones you already own? They wont fit the iPhones headset jack, so your first iPhone accessory will be a bulky, ugly $10 adapter.
The software keyboard invites typosbut when youre entering passwords theres no way of telling whether youve got them right.
Its great that the iPhone can reorient pages in Safari, CoverFlow, and the photo album, but why not extend that capability to other apps such as e-mail? Some messages could benefit from a widescreen display. And even when it does reorient, it doesnt always follow through with all features: CoverFlow loses access to the volume slider, for example.
No support for custom ringtones, surprising in a music phone.
The cameras rudimentary, with no audio/video or even zoom capability.
No to-do list support, a basic in most calendar applications.

Re: What Did Apple Do Wrong With The iPhone
Really, i wanted to believe that what so many iPhones sold (1 million) there are bound to be some problems, even a few nightmares, but it seems like there is nothing but problems on either the iPhone, or apps, software, battery, system, syncing, I'm mean you name it, and there's a problem somewhere attribute to using the iPhone.

Re: What Did Apple Do Wrong With The iPhone
i have to say that the battery is horible that thing last only practically 6 to 11hours before you have to recharge. And those bill fees like come on really I know there trying to get a profit but they dont have to go overboard with the iphone bill and next time they should allowed the iphone to record video.

Re: What Did Apple Do Wrong With The iPhone
I think the platform for the iPhone problems is the carrier (AT&T), I think their coverage kills the iPhone's 3G performance and in turn, decreases the life of the battery.

Re: What Did Apple Do Wrong With The iPhone
I'm with you there. I just made the conversion from being a long-time Moto user to the iPhone 3G, 16g (2.0.2).
I was really surprised when I got it and noticed the same things you mentioned. My first thought was, "This is Apple we're talking about...not Microsoft..." But although it's the sleekest, coolest cellphone I've had they really left out alot of features that even the most basic cellphone 5 years ago had (like where did some sort of external battery-charging indicator light go?).
Anyways, mine is Jailbroken and most of these issues are now in the past for me but I still have a few things to work on; things that, imo, should have been there to begin with (ie: wallpaper on Springboard...I mean what cellphone doesn't let you put a wallpaper on your home screen? And me, this crazy wallpaper maker...I almost went nuts....*lol*).
Still loving the phone and once Jailbroken, there is so much more to do with it.

My concerns are the screens scratch resistance & user-friendliness.
