iPhone Corrupted ?

I only have my iPhone 3G S for 3 months but it has slowed-down considerably; especially the camera which often freezes. I brought to the Apple Store. It was tested and I was told it was "corrupted" and needs to be restored, They would do it under warranty for free. I then learned that the procedure would delete all my photos, voicemails, and all other data. I was advised to upload everything into my PC. I am not savvy about such things and even if I could do this, how to restore the photos and voicemails back into the restored phone? The phone is great but I can't risk losing all that data. Do all brands of phones also lose data when restored? I guess so.

You simply just have to sync everything with iTunes. There are options for what to sync when you connect your phone with your computer in iTunes. Once the phone is reset, you can sync with your computer again and everything should be restored to the phone.

By the definition of 'restore' you are setting the phone back to factory default. Things will be deleted no matter what kind of phone you have. Luckily most have a way to back up information and restore it after things are reset. The process is different depending on the phone.

You can just connect your phone to iTunes, and then in iTunes, right click on your device and select Back Up. Once you get your phone fixed, connected it back to iTunes and do the same but this time select Restore From Backup.
