I have Verizon Wireless as my provider and for some reason they decided to have the outer lcd say verizon wireless instead of the time for some reason. It keeps switching back and forth between the time and the self promotion. Is there a way to hack this out?

There is some kind of firmware hack, but it's risky, and I can't remember where I saw it.

If people would speicfy what model number and in some cases ( not in your case) what service provider they are using it would be so much easier to help.

    Quite true.

I just assumed he meant the 8910, as a lot of people seem to complain about the banner on it. (Maybe other Verizon phones too)

Again, I saw something on one of the message boards, but from what I remember it was rather involved, and risky.

If I run across it again, I'll post it here.

enter the menu.... then hit 7 6 4... You should be at the ERI banner, turn it off. That is what the Verizon banner is. Once you turn it off, the time will display permanantly.

Forgot about this thread, but I did remember that fix after someone posted this question elsewhere (common request), and I re-found the process here:

    http://www.verizonwireless.com/multi...8910/main.html

Funny thing was, someone did do a hex edit hack to accomplish the same thing. I just hate to think it was because they didn't see that url.
