In a previous post (LCD Screen Change) I said I found a phone for parts that wouldn't power up. Turns out it this was due to water damage. However, I cleaned up the battery and phone contacts and it powered up and seems to be working fine (24 hours and counting). I haven't tested it for palcing or recieving calls yet. My question is what long term effects could there be from water? Corrosion etc? What about the lcd screen? If it is ok now, can I assume it survived the dunking? Thoughts anyone?

You can assume the worse. My first LG hit a bucket of water; I cleaned it up right away, didn't power it up for 24 hours, and when I did, it worked fine......for about two weeks, then started acting up. I put up with that for about a week, took it in, and the water damage was enough that the phone did eventually stop working.

Thanks Bossdragon. Any thoughts on the LCD screen? It is the real reason I bought the phone, for parts. I want to use it's screen on my phone to replace the one I cracked. (not even sure that I can do that myself).

You can try....but if you don't know what your doing, you'll more-n-likely mess the other one up too. But hey, it was bought for a replacement, so give it a try on the the parts phone. If you can remove it from there, just do the same on your phone.
