I need a bluetooth phone for when driving and was thinking about a new
Motorola V3X which has a high screen resolution of 320x240 but am not
sure if you can still see the screen in bright sunlight.
Being able to read the screen outside on a bright day is important to me
for work.
I can't find a local dealer who has one opened for display so i was
thinking of buying an old but new-in-box Nokia 6310i which is a
monochrome phone with a blue background which you can easily see the
disply in bright sunlight.
The problem i have with the 6310i is that it seems you have to manually
turn bluetooth on and off again.
You don't have to do that with a new phone, do you?

I'd go for the Motorola. For starters it's "free" on some low budget
plans. How much can you get the 6310i for? The last time that we looked
at them (to replace the missus' ****ed 6310i) they were still selling
for around the $400 mark.
Of course, if you can't read the screen in bright daylight, it'd be
pretty well useless as a mobile, whether for your job or people's casual
requirements.

Yeah, the 6310i are still holding their value but i actually went for
the Samsung z510. I liked the keypad design better than the Moto V3x.
The Moto V3x has what seems like a metal plate with slots cut out for
each button.

Strathfield are offering a Blueant Supertooth unit for $19(normally
around $180) with Optus plans atm, thats why i went for it.

I see what you mean. The Samsung's discrete buttons seem to be a better
ergonomic design. I wonder what their tactile feel is like?

What's the Optus plan like? You have to wonder if they're knocking $150
or mroe off the price of the Blueant, where are they making that money
back up from.
I'm waiting for some telco to bring out a plan, either CDMA or this new
3G one where I can spend a flat $20 a month for up to X dollars worth of
calls. Daughter's on a $30 plan with "Three" on its 3G plan. That
wouldn't be too bad, I s'pose. But right now, my mobile bill varies
between the min. $20/mth and $35. So, for me a $20 cap plan would be
great. But no-one that I'm aware of does this for any CDMA plan out
there.
And of course, with my current contract expiring in a coupla weeks, and
what with the alleged rollout of a rural 3G network coming soon, I'm
waiting to see what my options are.
And then there are the comments about no manufacturer has lined up to
make a phone for yet another uniquely Australian network configuration.
