I have been advised that Metro PCS pretty much wipes out their competition e.g. Chicago and northern California market.
They are coming to the southern California market within a few months. Right now in the San Diego market Cricket is Boosts competitor. Cricket is just giving pretty much anyone authorization to sell their products. Cricket is everywhere in San Deigo.
What is the best strategy to prepare for Metro PCS coming?

Re: Metro Vs. Boost unlimited
metro never dropped a call for me. their coverage is limited, but you cant beat the unlimited minutes and no contract. So for those ppl always complaining, get a phone with a carrier with national coverage, see how much they suck too.
Now, I think metro is good and now they are better as they have newer devices, much more attractive but still expensive. The reason why i left them is because i turned 18 and could get my own phone and plan on my own, so I did. Metro is great for people that talk alot on the phone, have no credit, or just want to pay the same thing each month. I dont know what you mean, how can you prepare for metro...
Boost is different, as it services do target other types of consumers. I was recently on their site and their phones are not all that great anymore
I love my cellys

Boost unlimited:
Unlimited by Boost operates on one of the nation's leading quality networks.
I wanted to show that Boost had a bigger network but the forums will not let me.
Sprint PCS has the largest network and fastest speeds on the internet.

Rev
Boost operates on Nextel Network not Sprint. Sprint has a solid network but Boost runs on Nextels IDEN network. Metro runs on CDMA which is similiar to Sprint and Verizon.

Re: Metro Vs. Boost unlimited
Boost Mobile has a larger coverage area than Metro PCS, by far.
Boost Mobile uses the Nextel iDEN network, which isn't the best...but is larger than Metro. Since Boost uses iDEN, there is little room for improvement, so I have a feeling they may be gone in a few years.
Metro PCS uses CDMA technology but is only available in very few markets nationwide. They offer roaming in some areas, but you are sometimes billed for this (depending on area). Metro markets to the younger audiences, while Boost markets to everyone. Since Metro is CDMA, they possibly have a bright future in front of them. They use the technology that is the primary one in the U.S.
I personally say for now Boost is the best choice. I think later Metro will have power over Boost.

Re: Metro Vs. Boost unlimited
Personally I would go with Metro/Cricket before I went with Boost.
Metro/Cricket have better data speeds and texting is not a problem.
Some months I have done up to 8,000 texts and I dont know anyone who has Nextel or Boost so the "chirp" would not benefit me.

Re: Metro Vs. Boost unlimited
Boost is starting their nationwide plans now. The only difference between the original boost mobile unlimited 'local' prepaid and the new boost mobile nationwide prepaid, besides nationwide coverage, is that there's no call waiting, but there is voice mail in case your phone is busy. I believe they did this to prevent nextel's customers with contracts from switching over en masse as there would be no difference between their contract service and the prepaid service. What this tells me is the writing is on the wall for phone companies who think they can own us with contracts.
Has anyone actually switched from a net10 (owned by tracfone)? How do I prove that a number is mine on a prepaid phone?
Also I believe that each city is different for each provider, because they estimate how many towers to put up based on that cities economy, imho. Which, if my assumption really is true, invalidates blanket statements like "xxx is absolute crap in xxx city". Since it's prepaid why not just test and see which one works best in your city? At worst you'll be out of a phone for a few hours to a few days.Last edited by nintendo1889; 02-17-2009 at 11:13 PM.
