Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW
I wish it was brighter in sunlight too....
As far as scrolling in the contacts.... Once I get it going... I can stop it on a dime simply by touching the screen once quickly.
I agree, the camera may not be as good as the 8mp wonders they have out now, but for a phone its as good as it gets.
One gripe I always had with my other phone "lg8700 2mp camera" was as good as the screen was, it still was not good enough to accurately judge whether a picture was worthy of keeping or tossing.
I took many pictures that I thought looked terrible, but when I transferred them to my computer, they looked quite well... and a little doctoring up in photoshop to add contrast and brightness usually fixed them.
But the Dare looks great... in fact it looks so good, it leaves you wanting more.... more as in bigger screen!.... Even though the screen is much bigger than my 8700 was, I still sometimes get so lost in it, I wish it was bigger, .... but then it wouldn't be so small and tidy.
One feature I believe they need to improve is the editing feature that adds contrast and brightness to an existing picture. Seems it moves "too" far at a time.. it needs to be more precise to make it really useful... more than one notch of adjustment and your instantly dealing with a terribly over-adjusted picture.
I also wish it had a color adjustment to doctor up skin tones..... I guess this is a wish list of sorts to spice up this first generation marvel.

Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW
As a follow up to my statement of sun glare being a problem viewing the DARE screen in sunlight, i went and purchased an anti-glare screen protector. i applied it today and it does a good job against sun-glare, its called " clear touch " by Boxwave. The screen protector is washable and reusable, protects against scratches, improves handwriting recognition, and fingerprint free!

Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW
Thanks for the info... do you feel it works against you otherwise as far as richness of colors etc?
And can you actually see better in the sunlight?..... I know you say the glare is removed, but I can imagine color and brightness being lost through the screen offsetting the glare being removed.
Am I hearing you recommend this for outdoor viewing as well as indoor?

Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW
The screen acts like a mirror in sunlight, the anti-glare protector does allow that, the reflection/mirror affect is taken away, which makes visibility much better.
I definitely recommend it for outdoor use, and the screen protector does not take away the actual view of the image your seeing, but because of daylight itself, the color will not be rich. Pictures of my DARE with the screen protector and my daughter's voyager without it are posted @my blog... see link below

Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW
As my DARE review continues over time i discover and re-discover some hints and features. I recently paired the jawbone 2 earpiece, it did eliminate noise, but i found it to be problematic with voice commands and very frustrating trying to solve the problem.
I went and ordered another earpiece from my favorite company, JABRA. I had the JABRA JX10 series 2 which work great, but i was looking for one of these new noise eliminating products since most earpieces are worthless in a noisy surrounding.
I purchase the JABRA BT530, Jabra's newest earpiece with noise blackout by JABRA for my DARE, pairing and setting up the 530 with the DARE was painless. The hardest part was applying the desire rubber piece which goes into the ear. I quickly trained my voice use the commands for words and number training on my DARE. The BT 530 feels comfortable in the ear and not to large in size.
Calling my friend to test the earpiece with background noise of my TV (loud) i was able to hold a conversation, not satisfied, i did another test calling my house phone letting the answering machine pick up. in a different room with my TV and BOSE radio on i began to leave a message walking to and from the TV and RADIO and left a lengthly message. I then listen to the message, although there was background noise, the message on the machine was distinct and pronounced.
I've heard problems with the DARE using bluetooth earpieces concerning echo's, breaking up, recognizing voice commands, but so far all is well.
Jabra BT530 - the new generation of noise cancellation
I purchase the JABRA BT 530 from Hello Direct on line @ Jabra BT530 Bluetooth Cell Phone Headset, Wireless/Bluetooth, Cell Phone Headsets, Headsets, Hello Direct

Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW
Hummm... this brings up another point I haven't considered..... the bluetooth on the LG dare breaks up a bit when connected to my navigation console on my Toyota Prius 06.
I never thought much about it till you mentioned it.. its not very bad.
However I can bounce between being connected to my navigation to phone, or phone with speaker and back to bluetooth connected to the nav seamlessly by hitting the appropriate button on the phone. Something my last phone would have died trying to do efficiently.

Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW
Alert:
I don't think i posted feature before or at least i didn't see it in this thread, if i did just bear with me.
if your DARE is lock and you get a incoming call, you can answer without unlocking the phone by pressing the middle icon (Microphone), this will answer in "speakerphone" with the DARE in the unlock mode. I found this feature to be useful when i get that call at the wrong time, you know, when your hands are occupied, or you just don't want to hold that phone to your ear and your earpiece is not connected. Speaking of which, the next feature on a earpiece i like to see is being able to connect a earpiece during a conversation/connected call.
I also left a review of my DARE'S earpiece the Jabra BT530 on my Blog@ seemyblog.tk

Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW
Thanks... I do hate the delay involved in having to unlock the phone before answering it.. .. however, many times I'm at work or in a place where I really don't want speakerphone activated either...
I tested mine and it does not answer in speakerphone mode, it answers regularly.. I can opt at that time to turn it to speakerphone if I wanted but its not there by default. "which I prefer".
I wonder if you have bluetooth activated is why its behaving the way you describe?
Also when I hit the middle button, there is also the button on the screen to hit to unlock the phone.. if I simply ignore it and proceed to talk.. in about 10 seconds or so that button disappears and the phone unlocks itself automatically... very cool!...
I don't know if it does that when it senses you are talking, or if its a simple timer.. I didn't test it.

Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW
A hint...
After using my Jabra BT 530 with the DARE i found when engaging voice commands with my earpiece, and the command " Say A Command" is announce, If i pause before announcing (example) "call Joe Home" the DARE has a better chance to understand. I notice, or it seems, that there is a initial delay of my voice traveling from the earpiece to the DARE, and if i speak a command to fast after the command announcement, the DARE has a problem understanding. I found better performance of my earpiece pausing before i give the command, It may be worth a try.

Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW
As far as cell phones go, I would rate the DARE 8 out of 10, it has great pros, like, Video and Photo Camera and their numerous features, Battery Life, Style and appearance, GPS, and the √erizon Network.
Some cons, Bandwidth doesnt match the DARES capabilities, no Java, no Flash no wifi, cant open attachments in emails, I like to see a better operating touch screen, like double touch the screen to open or engage features and applications, and single touch to scroll, move, or select features.
It comes down to what are a persons priorities, the above Pros are my priorities and the Cons are not or I could live without. When I look at the cons I say why werent they installed on to the DARE, I think they could have hit a home-run with the incorporation of the Cons, instead they hit a triple. Another thought, look what LG will be able to offer to the buyers in the future which will create the want.
Check-out the two headed man...lol

Re: RealTime LG DARE REVIEW
Does anyone have a similar problem when on m.youtube.com. When I search for videos on the phone, it returns a lot less results than when I am searching on youtube.com on my computer.

Keep your browser history clean.
If you browse the internet or open web pages often, don't forget to clear your history. Open the browser/www then go to menu bottom right, touch history, and erase. This will not erase the www addresses in the " go to " cache within www.
Or... touch menu and then touch manage memory.
