My p800 recently had some water damamge and I am considering exchanging the phone through att's insurance policy to either get a replacement phone, upgrade to a p900 or perhaps a treo 600, whichever of the three. Now I'm told that at&t has issues exchanging such a high-end pda phone, so I want to know if it's best to go through with it. Here are the issues I'm concerned with

    1. The imei on the account that I'm exchanging this too will be for an Nec 525. Will they question the exchange if im registered to have a different phone? Or do they just expect the phone that I send back to them to be the same phone they replaced, otherwising charging the balance to my account?
    2. I've been told if they no longer have the p800 in stock (which i doubt), they will give me either a p900 or a treo600, is this at all possible?
    3. I've also been informed that at&t will allow me to pay the difference in the upgrade cost. Will they give me the value of my p800 new when it first came out? or the value since the p900 arrived? Because I thought they were worth the same when they first came out? Do they simply charge this to the account?
    4. About how long does it take for the phone to arrive, is this an overnight situation?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I need to understand how this works. My p800 recently had some water damamge and I am considering exchanging the phone through att's insurance policy to either get a replacement phone, upgrade to a p900 or perhaps a treo 600, whichever of the three. Hey Zachman,

It has been a while since I was on the phones, but here is what I remember about your situation.

If you are indeed referring to "insurance" and not warranty exchange then you will be dealing with a company seperate from AWS called Lockline. I am not 100% certain, but I was not under the impression that they would allow you to pay the difference and get a better model.

It is indeed possible that they may not have you current model as with the new merger, our selection of phones has been greatly reduced as I am sure is the case w/ Lockline.

You will want to make sure the IMEI on the account matches you current device or there could be issues that arise, have the IMEI changed then call Lockline about a week later to do the swap, this should take place within 2 business days as they are shipped via ups/fed ex.

If you were indeed doing a WEX, then the IMEI would not make any difference, your phone would be shipped the same way but the likelyhood that your device would be covered as it is a PDA would be slim- you would have to go through the manufacturer.

    Hope this helps
