Does anyone know about the termination fees associated with switching from AT&T to Cingular. A friend of mine is still currently an AT&T customer, who has to sign on to Cingular. She has two additional lines on her plan whose contracts won't be complete until next year. Even though the main contract is fulfilled - will there be termination fees for the add-on lines or by switching to Cingular will the add-on contracts still be intact?

Re: Termination fees - switching carriers
If all she is doing is migrating from AT&T to Cingular there won't be an ETF charge.
What will happen if all lines are migrated from AT&T to CIngular, she will be starting brand new contracts, as long as she is going through Cingular and not a third party vendor doing something funky with the change.
So if she is going from Family plan to family plan, there should not be a problem.
If going from family plan to 3 seperate plans, that's another story, and you'll need to have your friend ask that question of Cingular.
And also (if this were me), I get them to email exactly what will happen and what if any charges will be entailed in that email. This way you will have the info in writing and can compare it to other options and or services.

Re: Termination fees - switching carriers
True, they try to charge old ATTWS customers to migrate to a cingular plan. BTW, if you are happy with the old plan hold on to it as long as you can. Cingular will only offer their plans to migrators, regardless of how long you've been with ATTWS or what bonuses you accumulated. Unless you like the cingular plan, use this as an excuse to stick to your old plan or drop them like a bad habit.

Bosoxnationx all I can tell you is everyone I know that went from Blue to Orange in 2005 didn't pay, even if there still had a Blue contract, and I didn't pay when I went from Blue to Orange in Jan 06.
