I got a Yamaha PSR-170 that is new and i can't seem to connect it to my computer. I have only one port on my computer which the 15-pin cable can fit in (the Game Port). Can anyone tell me how i can connect them? I followed the proper steps so don't give that crap like "maybe you didn't hook it up properly", cause I did!!!!

A proper MIDI cable should do it without any problems - I use PSR290 myself

well the game port/ midi port uses what is called plug n play but it's not usb so you have to shutdown and restart then you have to install the drivers in order for the device to work.

    You can try this

    http://solutionsnetwork.yamaha.com/k...&Dest=&Modsel=

then select <Portable Keyboards> then your keyboard. I noticed there are only 4 topics for your model, so if none of them help try PSR-290 - there are much more topics for that one - I did follow the instructions to the bone and everything plays fine.

Let us know how things are...

Re: HELP: Keyboard to Computer Connection Problems

Hello! Recently, I also had problems connecting my keyboard to my computer. For a long time I could not understand what the problem was, but as it turned out later, the whole point was that the keyboard was just very dirty inside and out. After I cleaned it, I decided to immediately buy myself such a laptop keyboard cover so that dust and crumbs could not get inside my keyboard and so that such situations would not happen again.
