xp is actually ok for me. The main problem is that many old games are'nt compatible ( like 256 colors only games ) - even with the compatibility option. anyway, i don't play any of those again, so it's ok.
And at least my granpa's understanding how it works. lol !

I`m not a windows phr34k, but if I have to choose what's the best then Ill say XP/2k; They'r stable, don`t give bsd's like win9x whatevah... so there are a lot of good things about XP.

The first thing you have to upgrade if you switch to XP is RAM. While Windows 98 was running perfectly on my 128MB PC, Windows XP was practically thrashing the hard disk from all those virtual memory swapping. When I added 128 MB more RAM, things went better.

I liked XP in the beginning, but then the random restarts began, so I downloaded maybe 50MB of patches and updates only to have the thing run EVEN SLOWER... Now I just don't know.. grr

Not that I'm sticking up for them, but Microsoft has a harder task trying to make sure Windows can run on a LOT of different types of hardware whereas Apple has proprietary hardware and can control it much better. I use XP but I also have a Mac.
