it's funny people are saying that amd's are cheaper, yeah that used to be true back in the day but hell thats no longer the case.

    they are not cheaper.

intels 64 bit processor is actually marketed to be cheaper and is cheaper than amd's version, btw.

i have a pentium 4 and can't complain. but for those who say AMD locks up or doesnt run reliably... it has more to do with your motherboard than your CPU because with the right motherboard AMD is superior for gaming and everything else. just make sure you invest in a good cooling fan because AMDs do tend to run hotter than Intel.

That's the best answer of them all, but still no totally accurate anymore. AMD chips are starting to run clock for clock with Intel in the video editing department. They also overclock more. In my opinion, AMD is better than Intel in every way possible.

The PC I am running right now is powered by the AMD Athlon XP 2000+, clokcing in at 1.67GHz. I leave it on all the time, and in the 3 years since I built it, it has not crashed once. The same can not be said for the P4 system we bought my daughter. I ended up taking it back and getting a system powered by an AMD Turion proc. No problems since!

I guess you could say I am AMD all the way!

Not braggin robb, Just stating facts about Pentiums Uptime, I've never had to reboot once since i set it up first, Does me proud. And it gets worked pretty hard, with emails, file server, And loads of websites running bits and pieces off it. It's goin well.

Ain't that further from the truth. Just check all the newest benchmarks comparing the top of the line AMD CPU's vs. Intel. AMD has gained a lot of marketshare in the past few years, and they are definately on top. Intel has a lot of contracts and stuff with the big retailers (Dell), otherwise for most enthusiasts, their CPU of choice is AMD (of course there are a lot of Intel fans too). Sure Intel is strong and reliable, but it's definately NOT much better AND cheaper than AMD.

Although the price difference between the two CPU's are closer now, AMD has ALWAYS been cheaper.
