I'm making an article for Web Sec magazine and my task is to collect information about web application attacks which happened this year to make some sort of a summary for our readers to make their browsing secure. What resources are you subscribed to or what authors do you follow?

Hello! Awesome topic for the article as their is tons of relevant information on the web. I'd recommend to check some security company reports. Usually they make sort of yearly reviews about tendencies in security. I've just googled this 1 for you https://www.ptsecurity.com/ww-en/ana...-attacks-2019/ You can also search on Youtube by the phrase "web application attacks".
