The Sony Xperia T received its fair share of Jelly Bean a few weeks ago, but up until now owners of AT&T's variant – the Xperia TL- had to roll with the Ice Cream Sandwich OS iteration. Fortunately though, AT&T has recently made the Jelly Bean update available on the Xperia TL, bringing with it a handful of new features and improvements.

One thing that you need to be aware of –assuming that you're the owner of an Xperia TL- is that there's no sign of an over-the-air release just yet, and as such, if you wish to update your gadget then you'll have to grab the USB cable and apply the new OS via the PC Companion software.

As to what you can expect from the update itself, apparently the user interface is much smoother than before, Wi-Fi connectivity is reportedly more stable, and an extended battery mode has been added as well. Furthermore, the on-screen keyboard is now more responsive and the browser quick commands wheel has been reorganized and is also more responsive. Last but not least, the new update adds HDR capabilities in the camera application.

Before commencing with the update procedure, you might also wish to learn that according to certain users that have already installed the update, you might have to perform a "settings reset" after you apply the new OS, in order for everything to work properly. In other words, if you notice certain bugs after you install Android 4.1 on your Xperia TL, a "settings reset" should fix your issues.

Good luck with the update and enjoy!
