The "Asha" line-up can be easily characterized as Nokia's budget-friendly smartphone division. In other words, these gadgets are, generally speaking, targeted at emerging markets. The same can also be said about the latest Nokia Asha line-up, which has been officially announced earlier today during the Nokia event that has been hosted in Abu Dhabi. The Finnish manufacturer has now lifted the curtain on the Asha 503, 502 and 500, and if you're on the lookout for a budget-friendly Nokia device, then one of these three handsets might actually tick your boxes. Let's see what they have to offer.

Spec-wise, the Asha 500 is the least powerful handset from the bunch. It arrives with a 2.8 inch display featuring a resolution of 240 x 320, resulting in a pixel density of 143 ppi. The gadget features 64 MB of RAM, and comes with a 4 GB microSD card included. The microSD card slot is capable of reading 32 GB cards. The 500 features a 2 MP main camera, and is being powered by a 1,200 mAh battery, which should provide up to 14 hours of talk time.

Next in line is the Asha 502, which packs a 3 inch display with a resolution of 240 x 320. In terms of RAM and storage, the 502 offers the same specs as the 500, but the rear camera is a 5 MP unit. The battery has a capacity of 1,010 mAh, which should provide up to around 13 hours and 42 minutes of talk time.

Last but definitely not least, there's the Asha 503 which is the more powerful (or well equipped) handset of the bunch. It delivers a 3 inch display with a resolution of 240 x 320, Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and a 5 MP camera with LED flash. The 503 is also the first smartphone in the Asha series to be 3G-capable.

All three smartphones will be offered in single or dual-SIM flavors, and in terms of design, all three handsets are quite similar as well. They feature a colorful body, encased in a transparent, almost glass-like layer.

In terms of availability and price, the Asha 500 will be launched in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East, where it will hit the shelves at roughly $69 before taxes. The Asha 502 will be launched in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe and Middle East, and it will be priced at $89. Last but not least, the Asha 503 will be launched in the same regions as the 500, and it will set you back $99 before taxes and subsidies. The prices are obviously off-contract.

Any takers?
