The end of October is approaching fast and the rumors and leaks surrounding the Nexus 5 are starting to hit the blogosphere at a higher rate. As some of you already know by now, there's enough evidence to indicate that the next Google flagship will be unveiled by the end of the month. There have also been enough leaks hitting the web to give us a pretty accurate idea on what we can expect from the device in terms of design and hardware specifications. However, not many leaks have hinted at the gadget's price. Some Nexus enthusiasts were fearful that the upcoming device might arrive with a higher price tag than the Nexus 4's (at launch), but that might not be the case after all.

Interestingly enough, the Nexus 5 has actually appeared on the Google Play Store recently, for a brief period of time. The handset in question looks pretty much the same as in the unofficial leaks, right down to the "NEXUS" logo located on the back panel. Even more interesting was the fact that the handset was accompanied by a price tag. The Nexus 5 was listed at the price of $349, boasting 16 GB of storage. While there have been rumors indicating that the handset could deliver LTE capabilities this time around, the price now indicates otherwise. This, however, does not exclude the possibility of a more pricey LTE-enabled variant being launched side-by-side, or sometime after the non-LTE model.

Regardless, the Nexus 5 is supposed to pack a 5 inch 1080 x 1920 display, and based on earlier benchmarks, a Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor might be found under the hood of the device. That being said, the $349 price is quite amazing.

More so, in its brief appearance on the Play Store, the Nexus 5 was accompanied by the tag line "Capture the everyday and the Epic in fresh new ways". Previous rumors have indicated that the next Google flagship phone would pack a powerful camera and various enhancements in this department. Needless to say, the aforementioned tag line definitely hints that these rumors might be correct.

As far as the launch of the device goes, there are a handful of theories circulating on the web. Some of these theories strongly suggest that the handset will be unveiled on October 21. Others have indicated that October 28 might be the big day.

On a somewhat related matter, a Nexus 5 render boasting the TELUS logo has also been leaked recently, indicating that the handset in question is also heading for a launch in Canada.

All in all, the next Google top-tier budget-friendly smartphone is closing in to the finish line. Is anyone excited about its arrival?
