A couple of weeks ago or so, the Samsung Galaxy S4 has been officially announced by the Korean manufacturer. The hardware specs have been revealed, but back then we still had no word from any US carriers that may be interested in retailing this gadget state-side. However, now we do, as AT&T has fired-up the pre-order page for the S4 Active.

Long story short, the SGS4 Active is currently available for pre-purchase at AT&T, for the price of $199.99 alongside a 2-year contract. The handset is expected to be shipped on June 18th. Last but not least, there are two colors to choose from; those being "Urban Gray" and "Dive Blue".

Assuming that you're still not familiar with what the Galaxy S4 Active has to offer, then the short explanation would be that, the Active is a Galaxy S4 variant, boasting similar specs but also a handful of differences that might gain your interest. The Active packs a 5-inch display (TFT not AMOLED), the same Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor as the ongoing S4, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage expandable via microSD, a 2,600 mAh battery and an 8 MP main camera (as opposed to the S4's 13 MP camera). In return, you'll get dust and waterproof capabilities and a new "Aqua Mode" for the camera, allowing you to capture images under water.

For more details about what the S4 Active can do, don't hesitate to read our initial report.

Are you planning on buying the Galaxy S4 Active? If so, then check out the handset on AT&T's website by accessing the source link below.

I kinda wanted this one, but I like Sprint. I also didn't care for the Active's hard keys. I figured the best solution would be to send my standard S4 to Liquipel out in California if I want a dust/water proof phone.
