Dell Streak 7 Tablet now available in Canada

For Canada, it looks as if the Dell Streak 7 tablet is now available for purchase at a price of $399.99 and ships within one day of ordering. The Dell Streak 7 tablet has of course a 7 inch display screen of 800 x 480 resolution and comes with a 5MP camera, a dual core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, a 1.3MP front facing camera, Android 2.2 Froyo, an OTA upgrade capability, WiFi, 16GB internal storage that can hold up to 32 GB.

After first having been pegged for an April 29 release, then being subsequently delayed to May 13 and missing that deadline as well, the Dell Streak 7 is finally available in Canada, direct from Dell.

This is Dell’s first 7-inch tablet, and it’s running Android, as you would expect. However, maybe not as expected is the fact that the Dell Streak 7 runs Android 2.2 Froyo, and not Android Honeycomb.
Aside from the OS version, the only other major downside with the Streak 7 is its touchscreen’s resolution, which is just 800×480. That’s the same resolution that most high-end Android smartphones have nowdays, and those are devices with 4.3″ screens or less. As a result, the Streak 7′s display is anything but crisp – in a way it’s the exact opposite of Apple’s Retina Display: here, the pixel density is one of the smallest around, whereas in the iPhone 4 it’s one of the highest.

Still, if you can live with that, the Streak 7 is a capable little tablet. It has a 1 GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra processor, a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash, and 720p HD video recording, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 16 GB of internal storage expandable via microSD, Wi-Fi 802.11n, and a 2780 mAh battery.
