Since 1 July 2010 all measures of the European Union to combat billshock for data roaming are implemented.

In short:

1) “The new rules will also protect consumers from "bill shocks" by introducing a cut-off mechanism once the bill reaches €50, unless they choose another cut-off limit."

2) "If users do not put in place a limit by 1 July 2010, it will automatically be set at 50 euros ($65; £45)."

There are still remaining questions how the cut-off will work and service is restored after being cut-off.

The measure is aimed at Europeans with postpaid contracts, though prepaid contracts might also be included in the measure.

It's yet unclear if the EU billshock measure applies for non-Euro postpaid / prepaid contracts.

More on this in the site below under the section internet.

Cheers!
