I have had cells for years but have not gotten into the nuts and bolts of it. We just changed our cingular plan and got new phones and sim cards. Erickson's not blue tooth compatable. Due to high cost of phones and head sets we opted for speaker type phones. However you can buy blue tooth compatable phones and headsets much cheaper on the web. What would it take if I purchased one of the phones with blue tooth to get it running with my phone number. Would just putting the sim card in do the job or would cingular have to get involved with the change? Seems to me it would sort of like being a house phone, plug it into the wall and it works, ie plug in the sim card and it works. Am I over simplifying the situation and there is some sinister plot to get you to pay their prices?
Also if there is some sort of cell phone tutorial on the web I would appreciate that as well.
Thanks

You can buy a Bluetooth adapter and a bluetooth headset. that might be easier then buying a new phone.

i think your carrier would have to get the ESN from the phone for it to be active but i don't know alot about sim cards verizon doesn't use them.

if you're on cingular, get a cingular branded bluetooth phone, switch in your current sim, and you should be good to go.

I have an Ericcson z520a phone with Cingular. It has bluetooth and works great with any bluetooth car kit. Maybe Cingular would swap out with you. Dave.
