A new smartphone has been announced by Aircell and is named: Aircell Smartphone. For those not familiar with Aircell, they are the only company in the US that has been approved by not only the FCC but the FAA, to use 800MHz band frequencies for inflight communications.
The Aircell Smartphone will run on Android, in which the version has not been announced, and will "allow passengers to place and receive voice calls aboard business aircraft." As you can see, this Aircell Smartphone is geared to those in aircrafts.
Some of the features of the Aircell Smartphone will include: a 3.8 inch touchhscreen display (of unknown resolution), Bluetooth, integrated audio jack, and an alphanumeric keypad:
The Aircell Smartphone is expected to launch sometime later this year and will come with Aircell's Gogo Biz service, upgradable to feature voice by the time of launch. It's probably safe to say that US flights will be the first and only ones to get this phone for awhile.
