2010 saw the biggest increase yet in competition between Android and iPhone mobile devices, with these two devices emerging as the two major players in the world of mobile devices. Despite the increase in competition last year, 2011 looks to be even more heated for these two devices. With the stakes at an all-time high, these two devices are set to battle it out for dominance in 2011.
One of the deciding factors in this battle will undoubtedly be SIM only plans, which is a subscription option wireless companies offer that allows users to use whatever handset they want and only pay the wireless company for the phones SIM card.
In order to determine who has the advantage in the competition between Android vs iPhone, its probably best to break each device down into the areas in which each is weakest. In this way, its possible to get an idea of how each device might try to outdo the other.
Weak spots for iPhone
With Apples iPhone the top selling point is the devices ease of use. With an interface that is simple and easy to navigate for users who arent tech savvy, the iPhone has incredibly wide appeal. When dealing with Apple products, everything is either very simple or its totally impossible. Unfortunately, the totally impossible aspect is where the iPhones major weak spots lie.
The iPhones biggest drawback is that there is very little room for customization and tweaking. Its necessary for users to do things the way Apple wants them done or not all. These restrictions are actually in place for a very good reason: Apple products perform incredibly efficiently because they dont have to worry about users doing certain things. However, if a user wants to get a program to do something that it was not designed to do, they pretty much have to work around the programs limitations.
The iPhones other major flaw is that there are fewer hardware choices available to consumers. While some customers would rather have large screens to watch videos, other customers might want a device that is smaller and easier to carry. Others might want lots of multimedia features in their mobile device, while some customers might find that they can live without these features and dont want to pay extra for them. Unfortunately, Apple has decided to adopt a one-size-fits all approach in regards to their devices. In fact, when dealing with iPhones, the only options customers really have to concern themselves with are the amount of storage and which wireless carrier to use. Even the choice of wireless carrier is made easier thanks to SIM only plans.
Weak spots for Android
The most attractive thing about Android devices is that they have access to apps from many of the major vendors in the mobile market. Google also allows many different manufacturers to make devices with the Android operating system, which means that Android phones come in a huge variety of configurations. Unfortunately, Androids device diversity is also one of their biggest shortcomings.
Because Googles Android operating system is open source, hardware manufacturers can use it for a just about any purpose they want. Google has very little control over how their operating system is used, which has lead to some incredibly sub-par devices being released on the market. Thankfully, if users are unhappy with their current Android phone its possible to simply buy a new phone and keep all their contacts and information. This is largely made possible thanks to SIM only contracts, whereas in the past users were stuck with whatever phone their wireless provider decided to offer.

Re: Which is best ? iPhone or Android ?
My 8 year old daughter borrows my Nexus One all the time. I have not done much to teach her any of it and she's figured out how to navigate around, download, and play games from the Market Place. This is like saying Mac is easier than Windows, but that does not mean a newbie cannot figure out how to use Windows.
Also, there is a problem with ease of use designs sometimes and that is after you get to be a pretty good user, you start to hate the easy interface. You start to long for a more powerful metaphor to control the machine.
So ease-of-use is a double edged sword and it is rare a simple design can address entry level needs and power user needs. You need to find a balance and with that there are trade-offs.-----------sorry i love youhttp://www.frou.info/g.php

In my opinion, an Android is better because it's being used by a larger number of people. Also, the prices are more accessible, compared to an iPhone.

Re: Which is best ? iPhone or Android ?
Hello Friends,
If we should compare both the Android and iPhone Applications, I think that Andorid having extra features as compare to the iPhone.
The ability to customize your phone's layout, and share media between apps and services, and having direct access to Google's full range of web outfits makes managing your life through your smartphone much easier. Android 4.0 smartphones bring you the closest to the power of a full desktop computing experience.
We really like that the Android operating system is open source, but what's more important to most end users is openness in terms of what you can run on these devices. The operating systems themselves are clearly important, but one thing's abundantly clear: the applications make the phone. And while Google has yet to get in hot water for rejecting apps based on anti-competitive fear or censorship, Apple has.
Thanks And Regards
Steve Knight
