Back Up Application Data:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Under “Personal”, tap “Backup & reset”
  3. Enable “Back up my data” to back up Wi-Fi passwords, settings, and other account data to your Google account
  4. By enabling “Automatic restore” app data will be restored automatically upon reinstalling the said app

NOTE: Applications will also be restored the next time you sign in with your Google account, on a new device, or on the ZMAX 2 after a fresh master reset.

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Under “Accounts” select the desired account to sync contacts with
  3. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”

NOTE: Contacts backed up in this manner will be restored automatically upon signing in with your Google account for the first time (on a new phone or for example, after a factory reset).

Back Up Contacts on the SD Card:

  1. Open the “Contacts” app
  2. Go to the “Contacts” tab
  3. Press “Menu” > “Import / Export”
  4. Tap “Export to storage”
  5. If necessary, rename the file, and tap “OK” to confirm

Restore Contacts from the SD Card:

  1. Open the “Contacts” app
  2. Tap the “Contacts” tab and press “Menu”
  3. Tap “Import / Export” > “Import from storage”
  4. Select an account to sync the contacts with, and select the vCard file on the SD card

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the ZTE ZMAX 2 to your computer via USB
  2. Swipe the “Status” bar down and enable “Media device (MTP)”
  3. Open an Explorer window on the computer and navigate to the phone storage
  4. Locate the desired media files on the phone, and copy them
  5. Navigate to the desired backup directory on the computer and paste the files
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage from the system tray, and safely disconnect the device

Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the ZTE ZMAX 2 to your computer using the USB cable
  2. Drag the “notification” bar down and make sure “Media device” is enabled
  3. On the computer, launch an Explorer window
  4. Locate the media files backed up on your computer, and copy them
  5. Navigate to the phone storage, and paste the files in the “Media” directory
  6. After the transfer is done, eject the phone from the system tray and safely disconnect it from the USB

Enable / Disable Anti-Theft:

NOTE: Anti-Theft is an Android security features that allows you to set a password to protect your phone from unwanted factory resets. To enable / disable Anti-Theft:

  1. Tap “Apps” and go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “Security” > “Mobile anti-theft”
  3. In case this is the first time you access the feature, enter a PIN / password, confirm it, and tap “Next”
  4. Set one of your contacts as an “Emergency” contact and tap “Next” > “Done”

NOTE: To disable Anti-Theft, follow the steps above, then tap “Turn off mobile Anti-Theft”. You will be required to enter your PIN / password to complete the process
