Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: In case one of your third party applications doesnt work as intended (crashes, freezes etc.), you might be able to fix this behavior by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! Clearing an apps data will result in the deletion of all personal information stored within the application, such as credit card and login information, profiles, high scores, settings etc. As such you should try fixing the app by clearing the cache first (this will not remove personal information).
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- Swipe to Device and tap Apps
- Swipe to Downloaded, Running or All
- Select the desired app and tap Clear cache
- If necessary, tap Clear data > OK
Reboot in Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If youve installed a third party application that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall it from within Safe Mode. When you reboot your phone in Safe Mode, all third party apps will be disabled. To enter Safe Mode:
- With the phone turned on, press and hold Power
- From the pop-up window, tap and hold Power off
- Tap OK to confirm. NOTE: once the phone reboots, it should display a Safe Mode message in the lower-left corner of the home screen
- To remove an app, first got to Settings
- Swipe to Device and tap Apps
- Go to Downloaded and select the app you want to remove
- Tap Uninstall > OK
- To exit safe mode, press & hold Power, then tap Restart > OK
Wipe the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone doesnt work as intended and you plan to factory reset it, you might want to try and solve the issues by clearing the cache partition first. Doing so can have similar results as a factory reset without losing any of your personal data on the internal memory.
- Turn off the phone
- Press and hold Power
- After a couple of seconds, press and hold Volume Up as well
- At the Select Boot Mode screen, release both buttons
- Make sure Recovery Mode is selected in the menu and press Volume Up
- After a few seconds you should see an Android along with a yellow triangle. Press Volume Up and Power simultaneously
- In the Android system recovery menu, press Volume Down repeatedly to highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to confirm
