Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Swipe to “Device”
  3. Tap “Display” and disable “Adaptive brightness” if necessary
  4. Tap “Brightness level” and drag the brightness slider to the left
  5. From the “Display” menu, tap “Screen”
  6. Choose a lower timeout duration such as “15 seconds”

Disable Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and Hotspot:

NOTE: You can prolong your phone’s battery life in the long run if you disable the connectivity features when they are not in use. To do this:

  1. Drag the “Status” bar down while on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Location” and “Wi-Fi” tiles to disable them
  3. Open the “Settings” menu
  4. Tap “Location” (GPS) > “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
  5. To turn off Hotspot, tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks” in the “Settings” menu
  6. Tap to disable “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By setting your phone / accounts / apps to sync less data, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal”
  4. Tap “Accounts” and choose an account type
  5. Clear or check the boxes next to the sync options you want to disable

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Some of the third party apps on your phone can affect battery performance even if you don’t use them – assuming that the respective applications run regular background processes. Thus you could improve battery life by disabling or uninstalling unused third party apps.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “Apps” under “Device”
  3. Swipe to “Downloaded”
  4. Select the desired application
  5. Tap “Disable” or “Force Stop” to turn off the app
  6. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to completely remove the app

Use 2G Instead of 4G:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Under “Wireless & networks”, tap “More”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Choose “2G”
