Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu” > “Battery saver”
  4. Tap the switch and set it to “ON”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Under “Device”, tap “Display
  3. If necessary disable “Adaptive brightness”
  4. Tap “Brightness level” and drag the slider towards the left side
  5. Return to the “Display” menu and tap “Sleep”
  6. Select a lower value, such as “15 seconds”

Disable Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not in use.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) tiles to disable the features
  3. To change how GPS works, scroll to “Personal” in the “Settings” menu
  4. Tap “Location” > “Mode”
  5. Select “Battery Saving”

Use 2G instead of 4G:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
  3. Tap “Cellular networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Tap to use “2G” only

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Certain third party applications can affect your phone’s battery life even if you don’t use them. This is due to the fact that some apps run regular processes in the background. As such, you might be able to improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party apps.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps” and access “Downloaded”
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Disable” or “Uninstall”
  5. Tap “OK” to confirm

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By setting your phone / accounts to sync less data, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select the desired account and tap “Sync” to change the desired sync options

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can improve battery life, so it’s recommended to keep your phone’s operating system up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Tap “About phone” > “System updates”
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to install updates, if available
