Turn On Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Turn Off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. While viewing the home screen, swipe the “Notification” bar down
  2. Tap the tiles associated with “Bluetooth”, “Wi-Fi” and “Location” to turn off these features
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  5. Turn off “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot”
  6. For additional GPS options, return to “Settings”, tap “Location” > “Mode” and select “Battery saving”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
  2. Tap “Display” and if necessary, turn off “Adaptive brightness”
  3. Tap “Brightness level”
  4. Drag the slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  5. Return to the “Display” menu and tap “Sleep”
  6. Select a lower value like “15 seconds”

Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:

NOTE: Certain third party apps can affect your phone’s battery performance even when the apps are not in use. This is because some apps can still perform regular background processes. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  3. Go to “Downloaded” and select the desired application
  4. To turn off the app, tap “Force stop” / “Disable”
  5. To remove the app completely from the phone, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”

Change the Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing the sync settings to sync less data / less often, you should get a bit of extra battery life in the long run from your device.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
  4. Select an account type
  5. Enable / disable the desired sync options. NOTE: the available sync options will differ from one account type to another

Switch from 4G to 2G Connectivity:

  1. Access the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type” and select “2G”
