Turn On Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the phones Settings menu
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Turn Off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when they are not in use, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- While viewing the home screen, swipe the Notification bar down
- Tap the tiles associated with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Location to turn off these features
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Turn off Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
- For additional GPS options, return to Settings, tap Location > Mode and select Battery saving
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Display and if necessary, turn off Adaptive brightness
- Tap Brightness level
- Drag the slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Return to the Display menu and tap Sleep
- Select a lower value like 15 seconds
Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:
NOTE: Certain third party apps can affect your phones battery performance even when the apps are not in use. This is because some apps can still perform regular background processes. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the Settings menu
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Go to Downloaded and select the desired application
- To turn off the app, tap Force stop / Disable
- To remove the app completely from the phone, tap Uninstall > OK
Change the Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing the sync settings to sync less data / less often, you should get a bit of extra battery life in the long run from your device.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Tap Accounts under Personal
- Select an account type
- Enable / disable the desired sync options. NOTE: the available sync options will differ from one account type to another
Switch from 4G to 2G Connectivity:
- Access the Settings menu
- Tap More under Wireless & networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type and select 2G
