Turn On Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Turn on “Battery saver”

Turn off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Notification” bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the tiles associated with “Bluetooth”, “Location” and “Wi-Fi” to disable these features
  3. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  4. For additional GPS options, go to “Location”
  5. Tap “Mode” and set GPS to “Power saving”
  6. To disable Hotspot, first return to the “Settings” screen
  7. Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More”
  8. Turn off "Tethering & Mobile Hotspot”

Decrease Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Under “Device”, tap “Display”
  3. Turn off “Adaptive brightness” if necessary
  4. Tap “Brightness level” and drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen
  5. Return to “Display” and tap “Sleep”
  6. Select a lower timeout value, such as “15 seconds”

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Certain third party applications can affect your phone’s battery life even when not in use – assuming that the apps perform regular background processes. Thus, by disabling or removing unused third party applications, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Apps” under “Device”
  3. Go to “Downloaded” and select the desired application
  4. Tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to turn off the app
  5. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By setting your accounts to sync less data, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an account type
  5. Clear the boxes associated with the sync options you wish to turn off

Switch from 4G to 2G:

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Select “2G”
