Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the Settings menu
- Tap Battery under Device
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when they are not in use (such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS), you can improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, drag the Status bar down
- Tap the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Location tiles to disable these features
- Open the phones Settings menu
- For additional GPS options, tap Location
- Next, tap Mode and select Battery saving
- To turn off Hotspot, first go back to Settings
- Next, tap More under Wireless & Networks and disable Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
Switch from 4G to 2G Connectivity:
- Open the Settings menu
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Tap to select 2G
Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:
NOTE: Some third party apps can affect your phones battery performance even when not in use, due to the fact that certain apps perform regular background processes. As such, you can improve battery life in the long run by disabling or removing unused third party apps.
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Access the Downloaded section
- Select the desired app and tap Disable / Force stop
- To remove the app completely, tap Uninstall > OK
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by reducing sync. To do this:
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- Tap Accounts under Personal
- Select an account type and clear check boxes associated with the desired sync options
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Access Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- If necessary, tap to disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Brightness level and drag the slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Return to Display and tap Sleep
- Select a lower timeout value, such as 15 seconds
Keep the OS Up to Date:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements. As such, its recommended to keep your phones OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Scroll down to System and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- In case an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it
