Turn On Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open the Settings menu
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- If necessary, turn off Adaptive brightness
- Tap Brightness level and drag the slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Go back to Display and tap Sleep
- Choose a lower timeout value, such as 15 seconds
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Certain third party apps can affect your phones battery performance even when you dont use them. This is because some apps can still perform regular background processes. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you may improve battery life in the long urn.
- Access Settings
- Tap Apps under Device
- Go to Downloaded
- Tap the desired application
- Tap Force stop / Disable to turn off the app
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall > OK
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling the phones connectivity features when they are not in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the tiles associated with Bluetooth, Location, and Wi-Fi to disable these features
- Go to the Settings menu
- Tap Location to access GPS options
- Tap Mode and select Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, first return to Settings
- Next, tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap to disable Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
Switch to 2G from 4G:
- Go to Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile Networks
- Tap Preferred network type and select 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your sync settings to sync less data, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Under Personal, tap Accounts
- Select an account type and clear the check boxes next to the sync options you want to turn off
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life, thus its recommended to keep your software up to date. To check for OS updates:
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- Under System, tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it (NOTE: During the updating process you will be required to reboot your phone)
