Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu > Battery saver
- Enable Battery Saving Mode
Turn Off Connectivity When Not In Use:
NOTE: To prolong battery life in the long run, you can turn off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth when not in use.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Location, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth tiles to disable these features
- Open the Settings menu
- Tap Location for more GPS options
- Tap Mode > Battery saving
- Go back to Settings
- Tap Wireless & Networks > Mode
- Tap Tethering & mobile hotspot and disable the option
Adjust Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Go to the phones Settings menu
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Tap Brightness level and disable Adaptive brightness if necessary
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Go back to Display and tap Sleep
- Choose a lower timeout value, like 15 seconds
Use 2G Connectivity:
NOTE: When in need of extra battery juice, you can switch to 2G to conserve battery life until next time you have access to a wall socket.
- Open the Settings menu
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Select 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by reducing the data synced by your account(s).
- Access the Settings menu
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select an account type
- Select the desired account
- Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
- Tap Back to save the changes
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Certain third party applications can affect battery life in the long run, even if you dont use them. This is because some apps perform regular background processes. Thus, by disabling or removing unused third party applications, you can improve battery life.
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Tap Apps
- Go to Downloads
- Select the desired app and tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall > OK
