Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” > “Battery saver”
  5. Enable “Battery Saving Mode”

Turn Off Connectivity When Not In Use:

NOTE: To prolong battery life in the long run, you can turn off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth when not in use.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Location”, “Wi-Fi”, and “Bluetooth” tiles to disable these features
  3. Open the “Settings” menu
  4. Tap “Location” for more GPS options
  5. Tap “Mode” > “Battery saving”
  6. Go back to “Settings”
  7. Tap “Wireless & Networks” > “Mode”
  8. Tap “Tethering & mobile hotspot” and disable the option

Adjust Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  3. Tap “Brightness level” and disable “Adaptive brightness” if necessary
  4. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  5. Go back to “Display” and tap “Sleep”
  6. Choose a lower timeout value, like “15 seconds”

Use 2G Connectivity:

NOTE: When in need of extra battery juice, you can switch to 2G to conserve battery life until next time you have access to a wall socket.

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Select “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by reducing the data synced by your account(s).

  1. Access the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Accounts” and select an account type
  4. Select the desired account
  5. Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
  6. Tap “Back” to save the changes

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Certain third party applications can affect battery life in the long run, even if you don’t use them. This is because some apps perform regular background processes. Thus, by disabling or removing unused third party applications, you can improve battery life.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Tap “Apps”
  4. Go to “Downloads”
  5. Select the desired app and tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
  6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
