Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Access the Settings menu
- Under Device, tap Battery
- Tap Menu and turn on Battery saver
Turn Off Connectivity When Unused:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth and GPS when they are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run. To do this:
- On the home screen, drag the Notification bar down
- Tap the Bluetooth, Location, and Wi-Fi tiles to turn off these features
- Access the phones Settings menu
- For additional GPS options, go to Location
- Next, tap Mode and select Battery saving
- To turn off Hotspot, return to Settings
- Then, tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap to turn off Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
Temporarily Switch to 2G Connectivity:
NOTE: In case you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery pack and you want to conserve your smartphones battery life, you can do so by temporarily switching to 2G connectivity until the next recharge.
- Open Settings
- Under Wireless & Networks, tap More
- Tap Mobile Networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Select 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some of the third party apps on your phone might affect battery life even when they are not in use, due to the fact that certain apps run regular background processes. As such, by turning off or removing unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Access the Downloaded tab
- Select the desired app
- Tap Disable / Force stop to turn off the app
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall > OK
Change The Sync Settings For Your Accounts / Apps:
NOTE: By setting your accounts / apps to sync less data throughout the day, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select the desired account type
- Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
- If necessary, tap Menu > Sync now
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Access the phones Settings screen
- Under Device, tap Display
- Disable Adaptive brightness if necessary
- Tap Brightness level and drag the slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
- Return to the Display menu
- Tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value such as 15 seconds
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: Certain software updates can include battery life improvements, and thus its recommended to keep your phone up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to System and tap About phone
- Tap System updates and check if a new version is available for download
- If necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the updating process. NOTE: It may require a reboot to complete
