Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open Settings
- Tap Display under Device
- Disable Adaptive brightness if necessary
- Tap Brightness level and drag the slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Return to the Display menu
- Tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value, like 15 seconds
Turn Off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:
NOTE: By turning off the phones connectivity features when they are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen, using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Location tiles to disable these features
- For more GPS settings, first open Settings
- Then, tap Location > Mode and select Battery saving
- To turn off Hotspot, return to Settings
- Next, tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Disable Tethering & Mobile hotspot
Use 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can improve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Under Wireless & networks, tap More
- Tap Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type and enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Third party applications can perform regular background tasks, and can affect battery life in the process. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps and go to Downloaded
- Select the desired app
- Tap Force stop / Disable to turn the app Off
- To remove the application, tap Uninstall > OK
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By decreasing the amount of data synced by your apps / accounts, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer and launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select an account to change its sync options
- Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
Keep The Software Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements, and as such its recommended to keep the phones OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:
- Open Apps
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to, and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- If a new update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it (NOTE: this process will require you to reboot your phone)
