Turn On Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Under Device, tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver mode
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS when these features are unused, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth tiles to disable these options
- For more GPS options, go to Settings and tap Location
- Then, tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- For Hotspot settings, return to Settings
- Then, tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Disable Tethering & Mobile hotspot
Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Turn on 2G
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Launch Settings
- Tap Display under Device
- Disable Adaptive brightness if necessary
- Tap Brightness level and drag the slider to the left
- Return to Display and tap Sleep
- Choose a lower timeout duration, such as 15 seconds
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your apps / accounts sync settings to minimize sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to personal and tap Accounts
- Select an account type and clear the check boxes next to the sync options you want to turn off
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party applications perform regular background process even when they are not in use. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps from your phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Tap Apps under Device
- Swipe to Downloaded and select the desired application
- Tap Disable / Force stop to turn off the app
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall > OK
Check for Software Updates:
NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to power management and battery life. As such, its recommended to keep your phone up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Verify if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen instructions to download and apply the update. NOTE: This process will require you to restart your phone
