Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Turn on Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Drag the Brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- For more options, go to Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- To reduce timeout duration, tap Sleep and choose a lower value
Disable Unused Connectivity Options:
NOTE: By turning off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS when not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location, and Bluetooth tiles to turn the features OFF
- For additional GPS options, go to Settings and tap Location
- Tap Mode and select Battery saving
- To disable Wi-Fi Hotspot, return to Settings
- Then, tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the switch OFF
Switch to 2G Connectivity:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes, and thus they can technically affect battery life even when they are not in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Ensure All Apps is selected from the drop-down menu at the top
- Select the desired app and tap Force Stop to disable it
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
NOTE: Another way to remove an app is by opening the apps drawer and dragging & dropping the apps shortcut on top of the Uninstall section at the top of the screen
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts / apps settings to minimize sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select an account to change its sync settings
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. TO check if new software updates are available for download:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply available updates (NOTE: the update process will require a reboot)
