Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Turn on Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By turning off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth when not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Tap the tiles associated with Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth to disable these features
- For more options, first go to Settings
- For more GPS options go to Location
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable Wi-Fi Hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Then, tap Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down with two fingers
- Drag the Brightness slider towards the left to decrease the screens luminosity
- Next, open Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Display and optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- To reduce the screen timeout duration, tap Sleep and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your apps / accounts to minimize sync, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Choose an account to change its sync settings
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party applications perform regular background processes, and thus they can technically affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By turning off or removing unused third party applications, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Make sure All Apps is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
- Tap the desired application
- Tap Force stop to disable to app, or:
- Tap Uninstall to remove the app from the phone
NOTE: Another way to uninstall an app is to open the apps drawer and drag & drop the apps shortcut over the Uninstall field at the top of the screen.
Keep The Software Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new OS updates are available:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates and check if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update(s). NOTE: This process will require at least one reboot
