Turn Battery Saving Mode On:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By turning off connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS when not in use, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the tiles associated with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location (GPS) to disable the features
- Open Settings and scroll to & tap Location
- Tap Mode
- Enable Battery saving and return to Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the switch OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Turn 2G ON
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Drag the Brightness slider to the left to decrease screen brightness
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, you can select to enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Minimize Third Party Application Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes and can potentially affect battery life even when not in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps and make sure All Apps is checked in the drop-down menu
- Select the desired application
- Tap Uninstall to remove the app, or tap Force Stop / Disable to turn the app Off
Change Sync Settings to Minimize Sync:
NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your accounts to reduce sync, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select the desired account to change its sync settings
Keep Android OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Verify if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply any available updates. NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot. Save any unsaved work before proceeding
