Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Access Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Drag the Brightness slider towards the left side of the screen
- Go to Settings for additional options
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness On or Off
- For timeout options, tap Sleep
Turn Off Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling your phones connectivity features when unused, you can improve battery life in the long run by disabling the phones connectivity features when unused. This includes Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Tap the Bluetooth, Location and Wi-Fi tiles to disable these features
- For more options, go to Settings
- Scroll to and tap Location (GPS)
- Tap Mode and select Battery saving
- To turn off Hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & Portable hotspot and turn the feature Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type and enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party applications perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Ensure All Apps is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
- Tap Force stop to disable the app, or tap Uninstall to remove it from the phone
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts/apps sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Access Personal
- Tap Accounts and select the desired account
- Chang the available sync settings to reduce synced data
Keep the Software Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements, and its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Verify if a new update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update. NOTE: The update process will require at least one reboot
