Back Up & Restore App Data:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Backup & reset”
  4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your Google account
  5. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to be restored automatically when signing in with your Google backup account or reinstalling apps

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “Accounts”
  3. Select the desired account type and the account you want to use for contact syncing
  4. If necessary, enable “Contacts”
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”

NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be automatically restored the next time you sign in with your Google backup account.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the ZTE Max XL to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer and locate the desired media files on the phone storage
  4. Copy and paste the files in the desired backup location on the computer
  5. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the ZTE Max XL to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the computer storage
  5. Copy and transfer the files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder or the directories they originate from
  6. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
