Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity options when they are not in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Tap the Location, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggles to disable the features
- Access Settings
- Go to Location (GPS) and tap Mode > Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & potable hotspot and turn the feature OFF
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type and enable 2G
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings for additional options
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Sleep and select a lower screen timeout value
Change Sync Settings to Reduce Sync:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run. To do this:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Access Accounts
- Select an existing account and turn OFF the desired sync options
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps and make sure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
- Select the desired application
- Tap Force Stop to disable the app, or:
- Tap Uninstall to remove the app from the phone
NOTE: Another method for removing an app is to open the app drawer and then drag & drop the apps shortcut over the Uninstall section at the top.
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life, and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply any available updates. NOTE: The update process will require at least one reboot
