Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Display and if necessary, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side to decrease luminosity
- For timeout options, return to Display and tap Sleep
- Select a lower timeout value like 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling your phones connectivity features when unused including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS you can improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the feature
- For GPS options, open Settings and access Location
- Then tap Mode and select Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Disable Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select an account type
- Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
Minimize Third party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps can perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Swipe to Downloaded
- Select the desired app
- To turn the app Off tap Force Stop or Disable
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall > OK
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Go to System updates
- Verify if a new update is available and if applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply updates (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
