Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Drag the Brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Display and optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Sleep for timeout options and select a lower value
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling your phones connectivity features when they are not in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Location (GPS), and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings and access Location (GPS)
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- For hotspot options, go back to Settings
- Then tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Lastly tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the switch OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Accessed Preferred network type
- Enable 2G to confirm
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party applications perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Ensure All Apps is selected from the drop-down menu
- Select the desired app and tap Force Stop to disable it
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the lo9ng run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings and scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select the desired account
- Change the accounts sync settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new udpates are available:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply available updates (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
