Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu > Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen swipe the Status bar down with two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Display an enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Sleep and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when unused, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Tap the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Location quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings and tap Location for GPS options
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Then tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the feature Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select an account and disable the desired sync settings
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Apps
- Select All apps from the drop-down menu at the tp
- Tap the desired application
- To disable the app, tap Force stop
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To verify if new updates are available:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates and check if new updates are available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply available updates (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
