Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By changing your phones connectivity features including Hotspot, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location (GPS) quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings for additional options
- Tap Location > Mode and enable Battery saving
- To turn Hotspot Off, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & mobile hotspot and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Preferred networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phones battery life when not in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps and if necessary, select All apps in the drop-down menu at the top
- Select the desired application
- To turn the app Off, tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select the desired account
- Change the available sync settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available, and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install available updates. NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot
