Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings” for additional options
  4. Tap “Display” under “Device”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. Lastly, tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity options when unused, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Access “Settings” for additional options
  4. Tap “Location” and select “Mode” > “Battery saving”
  5. To disable Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and turn the feature Off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can preserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Access “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync options to reduce sync, you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer and launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Accounts” and select an existing account
  4. Turn the desired sync options Off

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps” and make sure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu
  4. Choose the desired application
  5. To disable the app, tap “Force stop” / “Disable”
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Verify if a new update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update(s). NOTE: The update process requires at least one reboot
