Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity options when unused, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) quick toggles to turn these features Off
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Tap “Location” > “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
  5. To disable Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and set the feature Off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Tap “Display” under “Device”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. Lastly, tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party applications perform background processes regularly, meaning that they can affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  3. Ensure “All Apps” is selected in the drop-down menu
  4. Select the desired app
  5. To disable the app, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Change Sync Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync options to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an existing account
  5. Disable the desired sync options

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap "System updates”
  4. Check if a new update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update(s). NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
