Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings for additional options
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness On or Off
- Tap Sleep and select a lower value
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity options when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Tap the Location, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings and access Location
- Tap Mode > Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Next tap Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the feature
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type and enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps form the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps and select All apps from the drop-down menu
- Select the desired application
- To turn the app Off, tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app from the device, tap Uninstall
Check for OS Updates:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus its recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for OS updates:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates and verify if new update is available for download
- If available, follow the on-screen steps to download the update(s). NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
