Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Turn “Battery saver” On

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down
  2. Drag the “Brightness” slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
  4. Tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” On or Off
  6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Options:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused, such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Hotspot, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) quick-toggles to disable the features
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Access “Location” for more GPS options
  5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. To disable Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type” > “2G”

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party applications perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps” and ensure “All apps” is selected from the drop-down menu
  4. Select the desired app
  5. Tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to disable the app
  6. Tap “Uninstall” to remove the app

Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Accounts” and select the desired account type
  4. Tap the desired account and change the available sync options to reduce sync

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if new updates are available, and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update. NOTE: this process will require at least one reboot
