Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the notification bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device”
  5. Tap “Display” and optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” On or Off
  6. For timeout options, access “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling your phone’s connectivity features when not in use – such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS – you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the notification bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” (GPS) and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the feature
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Go to “Location” for GPS options and tap “mode” > “Battery saving”
  5. To turn off Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & Mobile hotspot” and turn the feature off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery life or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily restricting the device to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Preferred network”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes when not in use, and thus they can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps” and switch to “All apps” if needed
  4. Select the desired application
  5. To disable the app, tap “Force stop” / “Disable”
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if new updates are available
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update. NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
