Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
  2. In the quick toggle area, drag the “brightness” slider towards the left
  3. Open “Settings” for additional options
  4. Tap “Display” under “Device”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “adaptive brightness”
  6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value such as “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Location”, “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings” and tap “Location” for additional GPS options
  4. Next tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can improve battery life in the long run by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Access “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  3. Select the desired account
  4. Change the account’s settings to reduce sync

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  3. Ensure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu
  4. Tap the desired app
  5. To disable the app, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Verify if a new update is available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update. NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
